Keepsake

This isn't meant to offend, in anyway. This is part of a larger installation (or, rather, more a preview of it). I will be doing this installation friday for our MFA open studios.

This is a visual representation of a part of the novel I've been working on for my thesis. The story revolves around the woman's family after she takes her own life on her birthday. She suffered long term from bipolar disorder, and her children and husband are left to deal with the aftermath of her death – even though she was largely absent and abusive.

The installation will consist of mostly Aiden's POV, who has PTSD from the event and suffers from massive bouts of hypnagogic blips that he confuses with reality causing his memory of the event to become skewed and tormented. He really had the deepest (and most screwed up) relationship with his mother, and doesn't quite know how to feel about her death.


I am not attempting to promote suicide in anyway. Or hurt people's feelings. This is not meant as shock value.
